LightSquared Interference Exists- December 20, 2011, Noah Huntington, S.I.T.
GPS World article reports findings of U.S. government tests conducted in November stating that 75 percent of GPS receivers tested within a distance of 100 meters from a LightSquared base station demonstrate interference. The report states that "No additional testing is required to confirm harmful interference exists". Read full story here.

Surveyors have long understood the frustrations of communicating spatial analysis with clientele not equipped with CAD or GIS capabilities. Recent advances in PDF technologies coined GeoPDF by TerraGo allow AutoCAD and various mapping applications to publish PDF's with layering capabilities much like GIS. I encourage surveyors to explore publishing options within AutoCAD and GIS applications or shop the USGS store for great examples.
ArcGIS Desktop and the Cloud - October 28, 2011, Noah Huntington, S.I.T.
During the last ESRI UC, the company announced their plans for the cloud. New features to be released for desktop this fall include functionality to publish maps and data right to the cloud. Read more here.
